Recipe: Smoothies

Apple-Kale Smoothie (Real Simple)
  • 3/4 cup kale, ribs removed
  • 1 small stalk celery
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1/2 cup apple juice
  • 1/2 cup ice
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Pineapple-Spinach Smoothie (SparkPeople)
  • Two handfuls of spinach
  • 1 cup chunk pineapple
  • 2 bananas
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1 cup water and ice (depending on how creamy or icy you want it)
Peanut Butter-Banana Smoothie (Mom on Timeout)
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt, plain or vanilla
  • 1 banana, sliced and frozen
  • 1 tablespoon natural peanut butter
  • 2 cups fresh spinach
Berry Green Smoothie (Mom on Timeout)
  • 2/3 cup orange juice or orange juice blend
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
  • 4 frozen strawberries
  • 1/3 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 tsp honey {optional}
  • 2 cups fresh spinach.
Pineapple-Carrot Smoothie (Real Simple)
  • 1-1/2 cups chopped fresh pineapple
  • 1 cup ice
  • 2/3 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1/2 cup chopped carrot
  • 1 banana
Banana-Almond Flax Smoothie (New York Times)
  • 1 medium or large banana, preferably frozen, sliced
  • 2/3 cup buttermilk, yogurt or almond milk
  • 1 tablespoon roasted unsalted almond butter
  • 1 tablespoon flaxseeds
  • 1 teaspoon honey or agave nectar
  • A couple of drops of almond extract or vanilla
GREEN GRAMPA
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 1/2 cup pink orange juice (OJ and pomegranate juice) 
  • Handful parsley
  • 1 stalk celery
  • 1/4 cup frozen mango
  • 1/4 cup frozen blueberries 
Blend yogurt and juices together. Add parsley and celery and blend until smooth. Add frozen fruit. If too thick, add more juice or water until the consistency looks right.

  • 1 cup broccoli, steamed
  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 2 cups V-8 Berry Splash
  • 1 banana
  • Ice or water as needed

  • 1 cup kale
  • 1 cup raspberries
  • 2 cups watermelon
  • 2 cups Cran-Raspbery
  • 1 banana
  • Ice or water as needed
