August: third year begins with old favorites

We started with some easy favorites to get us back in the rhythm of cooking together. With a soft start of 7:30 (and an actual work time of 8pm), we were easily done by 9:30 to finish up the cleaning, the accounting, and the planning for the new year. Mojitos by H. were a welcome treat this evening. I think cocktails may become a regular part of our monthly get-togethers.

Recipes:
  • Beef Bulgogi
  • Marinated Grilled Shrimp
  • Garlic And Herb Chicken
  • Ginger-Soy Salmon
Attending:
  • M., H., T., LB., LP.
  • Made meals for one additional family
Costs for 24 meals (6 family portions of 4 meals; one without shrimp, one without salmon):
  • $51.74 for ingredients
  • $280.21 for proteins ($75 for chicken and beef; $85 for shrimpX5, $80 for salmonX5)
Total: roughly $53.79 per family

Plans for Fall 2013
  1. Pick a monthly meeting day via doodle.
  2. Cocktails yes, elaborate snack purchases, no. Perhaps purchase one thing or rely on items brought from our own kitchens.
  3. Keep the jobs low key...
    M. hosts and orders the meat.
LB does the printouts and same day directions.
    T. and H. alternate shopping.
LP does the ingredients/shopping lists and accounting during MAM.
Sixth spot remains open for guest cook.
  4. Try to find a balance between marinades and cooked recipes; newly-found versus tried-and-true favorites; unique dishes versus reliable ones with that we can finish quickly.
  5. Check out Wedgwood MAM blog for recipe ideas.
  6. More fish marinades.
  7. Consider a gift-making MAM in December to make food gifts for sharing: Lemoncello, dried soups, caramels, dipping oil, and something else that M. mentioned.
  8. Recipes to include this fall: meatballs, enchiladas, breakfast bars, curry.
  9. Create our own record of MAM recipes and cooking sessions.
  10. September: salad dressing, breakfast bar, Thai chicken burgers,
    October: herb butter, cashews, meatballs
    November: curry, stuffed mushrooms
